According to Pocket-lint, new UK iPad owners are finding themselves unable to access the App Store from the iPad itself, instead seeing a message telling them that it’s “not supported in this country”. Â The only workaround at present is to set up a US iTunes account, though the process requires a US credit card for paid-apps since a UK card won’t be accepted.
It’s unclear whether this move was a deliberate one by Apple to discourage imports, or merely the side-effect of the staggered launch process. Â Ironically, iPad applications are already available to browse and purchase through iTunes on the desktop in the UK, and will reportedly sync onto the tablet with no problems.
