iPad SSD demand raising prices & prompting flash shortage
Apple could well find themselves the cause of an SSD shortage, manufacturers are claiming, as the iPad increases the company’s already-ravenous hunger for NAND flash. Â The iPod and iPhone lines apparently consume almost one-third of total NAND flash output, and that’s only set to increase as iPad production ramps up.
As a result, industry experts are predicting that SSD adoption in the computing industry generally will be delayed, and prices for SSD drives kept artificially high.
